The project site is located in the central Tokyo, where it is densely surrounded by wooden houses as typical scenery. A singular house volume is subdivided into three units, two tenant units on the lower floor and an unit for the owner on the top. Due to the strict constraint in terms of the height restriction, it resulted to be sunken 1.2m under the ground to maximize the building volume. It helps to control sense of distance in relation to the alley in front and keep certain privacy on the lower level. The ceiling height of the tenant units is about 4m, which cannot be aware from the real estate ad.
